Betfred Championship Preview | Round 5

Betfred Championship Preview | Round 5

Six teams are on six points as we head into Round 5 of the Betfred Championship.

Can London Broncos maintain their unbeaten run? Jason Demetriou’s men face North Wales Crusaders in the latest round, in what will be their first meeting since 2011.

The Broncos put Swinton to the sword in Round 4 with an 84-6 victory at Heywood Road. Will they be equally as ruthless on home soil this Saturday?

The Crusaders, who have won their last two matches, will be looking to have a say in above.

Seven ties are set to take place on Sunday.

Midlands Hurricanes will host Oldham, and it’s the Roughyeds who have won all five of their previous away meetings with the Hurricanes.

The Canes, however, have won three on the bounce with momentum swinging well and truly in their favour.

Batley and Swinton meet for the first time in two years, with both teams looking to return to winning ways this weekend after suffering losses in Round 4.

Salford return to action and will be aiming to secure back-to-back wins. They emerged victors against Hunslet last time out and travel to Doncaster with bundles of confidence, although are aware of the challenge that lies ahead.

The Dons have also had a week out and should be raring to go on home turf.

There’s a battle of the Vikings in Round 5. Widnes and Goole will lock horns for the first time in their history, which is set to be an exciting spectacle.

Hunslet come into this round on a high after thumping Rochdale in Round 4. A tough test awaits when the home side welcome Sheffield Eagles, but they’ll be hopeful of giving it a good crack.

The Eagles have won their last six away meetings with Hunslet.

Workington Town and Whitehaven remain winless after the opening four rounds and will be desperately looking to change their fortunes in Round 5.

Town are away at Keighley Cougars, whereas Haven have home advantage against Rochdale.

Last season saw two pulsating contests between the latter with the teams each triumphing in their respective home fixtures. (36-32 and 24-20).
